CPR Done Differently Course Overview

The HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) course equips with the critical knowledge and skills to provide quality CPR and use a defibrillator, significantly enhancing the chances of survival for adults, children, or infants in cardiac arrest.

You’ll learn how to recognise and assess emergency situations, ensure safety, summon assistance, execute CPR according to the Australian Resuscitation Council (ARC) guidelines, operate an automated external defibrillator (AED), follow the DRSABCD action plan, and record the event details. The certification is valid for one year and must be renewed annually.

HLTAID009 Provide Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation is the nationally accredited course for essential life support, adhering to ARC Guidelines and recognised throughout Australia.

First Aid Pro is a trusted registered training organisation, trusted Australia-wide. And committed to offering a supportive environment where all participants are well-equipped to demonstrate their practical CPR skills with complete competency.

What To Expect At Your Walk In CPR Assessment

After completing the online components, walk into our centrally located Adelaide CBD assessment centre at any time between 8am and 4pm on your chosen day. Your assessment will cover:

  • Be able to closely follow ARC guidelines.
  • Make sure the patient is positioned so that their airways are kept open and clear.
  • Adhere to the ARC’s instructions.
  • Carry out at least 2 minutes of continuous CPR by yourself, including 5 cycles of chest compressions and breaths on a manikin on the ground.
  • Operate an Automated External Defibrillator directed to give at least one shock.
  • Maintain CPR with minimal breaks, even when switching rescuers.
  • Attend to any vomiting or regurgitation quickly and safely.
  • After the CPR, hand over the situation to emergency services and report events accurately.
  • Reflect on the incident to gain insights from it.
  • Stick to ARC guidelines.
  • Conduct continuous CPR for a minimum of 2 minutes, completing 5 cycles of compressions and breaths on a manikin placed on a firm surface.

Achieving proficiency in these techniques is essential for successfully passing your assessment. The goal of this practical evaluation is to demonstrate your preparedness to deliver effective cardiopulmonary resuscitation during actual emergency situations.
