MHFA - Mental Health First Aid Course

First Aid Pro offer a complete suite of nationally accredited first aid courses throughout Australia. Our MHFA – Mental Health First Aid course is accredited through Mental Health Australia. The course is designed to equip students with all the skills and knowledge to recognise the signs and symptoms of common mental health issues, how to approach a person to talk about mental health issues, how to encourage a person to seek professional help and where to go to receive the help they need. Our Mental Health First Aid Training covers many common mental health issues including depression, anxiety, substance abuse and suicidal behaviours.

Mental illness affects 3.2 million people in Australia annually and by raising the community and workplace mental health awareness level and providing the skills to recognise a problem is hugely beneficial; many mental health sufferers delay seeking help hoping the problem will just go away. However, early intervention can have a significant beneficial impact on a person’s prognosis.

Mental Health First Aid Training is ideal for people who manage staff members, people working in government, social services and health-related fields, or individuals just wanting to know how to help a loved one recognise and overcome the disabling symptoms of mental illness. Raising the level of awareness of mental health issues in the workplace can help create a safe and supportive work environment as staff have the skills and knowledge to support those experiencing mental health issues and guide then towards help.
